History of Ooty Lake
Ooty Lake is an artificial lake. It was built by John Sullivan in 1824 for the purpose of fishing. He was the Collector of Coimbatore. Shortly after its creation, it was decided to create a lake in Ooty due to the many streams of water coming from the mountains. Later this lake has become very popular among tourists due to its beauty. It was taken over by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in 1973.
