In 1552 AD, a Barmerfort was built on the hill in the present city of Barmer. Rawat Bhima transferred the old Barmer (present-day Juna village of Barmer district) to the city. Both the temples are very famous and fairs are also held here during Navratri festivals. The rest of the area is the residence of the former royal family of Barmer.
